Your PAN card will be canceled under Section 139-AA of Income Tax. In case the PAN card is not linked, it will be difficult to file an ITR online. Your tax refund may be withheld.

For your information, let us say that last year, the government shut down 11.44 lakh PAN cards or even dropped them in the category of inactive. Let us state that the earlier time limit was till September 30, 2019, which was increased by the Central Direct Tax Board to December 31.
The process of linking the PAN card with Aadhaar
First of all you do not have an account so register yourself first.
Go to the Income Tax Department’s e-Filing website (www.incometaxindiaefiling, gov.in).
Click on the option ‘Support link’ on the website.
After logging in, go to your account’s profile settings.
In the profile settings you will get the option to link the Aadhar card, select it.
Enter your base number and captcha code in the section provided here.
After selecting the details, click on the option ‘Link Support’ option shown below. After that your support will be linked.
