7 crore customers will get relief
Gas subsidy will continue to be available
Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has said that even after the privatization of BPCL, it will subsidize every cooking gas consumer. 12 cooking gas cylinders
The government subsidizes a maximum of 12 cooking gas cylinders (14.2 kg) per year per connection. The subsidy is credited directly to the customer’s account.
These also get subsidy
Customers buy LPG from the dealer at market price and then the subsidy comes into their account. The government subsidizes the customers of oil companies Indian Oil Corporation, BPCL and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited.
The government is selling the entire stake
The government is selling its entire 53 per cent stake in BPCL with management control. The new owner will get 15.33 per cent of India’s oil refining capacity and 22 per cent of the fuel market. Out of the total 285 million LPG customers in the country, 73 million customers belong to BPCL.
What will happen to customers
Will BPCL’s customers switch to IOC and HPCL after a while? In reply to a question, he said that there is no such proposal at present. If we subsidize the customer’s account, the companies will not get the right.
