A cabinet meeting was held on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Union Minister Prakash Javadekar briefed the media on the decisions taken at the cabinet meeting. The meeting decided to invest Rs 12,750 crore in 5 months free foodgrains, a house for rent of migrant workers and a general insurance company.

Union Minister Prakash Javadekar said that under the Prime Minister’s Poor Welfare Food Scheme, 81 crore people have received 5 kg of foodgrains per person per month for free in the last three months. Grain which is available at Rs 2 and Rs 3 continued to be available. But this grain is found in free.

That means 15 kg of grain per person has been received in the last 3 months.

For the first time since independence, so many people have been given free food grains

The Union Minister said that the cost of this scheme is 1 lakh 49 thousand crore rupees. For the first time since independence, 81 crore people have been getting free foodgrains for 8 months. The Prime Minister announced the expansion in the last few days. The cabinet implemented it today. The scheme will be applicable till July, August, September, October, November. In which one person will get 5 kg of free grain. In the last three months, 12 million tonnes of foodgrains have been distributed and in the coming days, 23 million tonnes of foodgrains will be provided free of cost.

Another plan area

Prakash Javadekar said the government has expanded another scheme. Small businesses where there are less than 100 employees and 90% of them have a salary of less than Rs 15,000, the government pays 12% PF per month. Which benefited 3 lakh 66 thousand industries.

Rental building for migrant laborers

Talking about another decision, he said that 1 lakh 8 thousand small houses have been completed in 107 cities under the Prime Minister’s Housing Scheme. The government has decided to rent those houses to migrant workers. The workers did not get cheap houses to rent but now the government has decided for them.

“There are three general insurance companies in the country,” he said. The government will invest Rs 12,750 crore in it.
