Preparation of Prime Minister Modi’s Economic Package 2.0
The Union government is preparing to give one more economic package to boost the economy. A series of meetings have been going on for a week on how much it should be. On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held several meetings in this regard.
On Saturday, the Prime Minister met Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Home Minister Amit Shah, officials from the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and Finance Ministry officials. According to sources, the Prime Minister will first focus on industries, including the unorganized sector, to help the people generate immediate employment.
Earlier, the Prime Minister had a meeting with various ministries, including civil aviation, labor and energy.
Officials from the ministries gave a presentation to the Prime Minister on plans to revive the economy. The package will be decided on the basis of this report. The unorganized sector accounts for 80 per cent of the country’s workforce and 60% of the workers in the organized sector are in the MSME sector. The lockdown has dealt a major blow to both the sectors. The second package assumes that the government will focus more on small businesses and the weaker class than large businesses.
