Will a central employee retire at the age of 50?
Is the government planning to reduce the retirement age of central employees to 50 years? In response to this question, Union Minister of State for Personnel and Training Jitendra Singh said that there is no such proposal. He has denied reports in some media reports that he would consider such a proposal. Jitendra Singh said that no proposal on lowering the retirement age of employees has been discussed at any level in the government.

It may be mentioned that at present the retirement age of Central employees is 60 years.
Apart from this, regarding such news, Jitendra Singh said that there are some elements which deliberately create illusions and spread false instructions. He has often spread such rumors, citing government sources.
He said every time the government has to come forward to refute such rumors. In a statement, Jitendra Singh said that at a time when the country was facing a serious challenge like the Corona virus, some people were pushing back the good deeds of the government and spreading rumors in their own interest.

It may be mentioned that the government has suspended the DA of central employees for a year and a half to meet the decline in revenue following the Korona virus crisis. About 1.5 crore central employees and pensioners will now get additional DA only after July 2021.
The government has also withdrawn the announcement of increased inflation allowance for January to June 2020. On March 13, the government announced a 4 per cent hike in inflation allowances for central government employees. The inflation allowance was rumored to meet in April with an arrear from January to March.
However the Corona crisis turned the water on all hopes. Along with the central government, the state governments of Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh have also blocked the DA so far. The UP government has banned 6 types of allowances, including DA. It is believed that the UP government’s decision will help about Rs 4,000-5,000 crore a year.
