Gujarat government waives 25% school fees

Gujarat Education Minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama made a big announcement on the fee issue after a meeting of the Gujarat Cabinet today.

The state government has announced a 25 per cent relief in school fees. There will be a 25 per cent discount on fees for the entire academic year. Fees for other school activities will not be charged. The decision of 25% fee waiver will be applicable in Gujarat Board and CBSE schools.

Protests in Ahmedabad

Violent protests are taking place in Ahmedabad on the issue of fee waiver. In Ahmedabad, there has been fierce opposition from parents and guardians. The 100 per cent fee waiver was protested with posters. There was protest before Bhupendrasinh announced Chudasama.

Protest over fee in Patan

The protest was staged by the Gujarat Jan Adhikar Manch. A protest was staged outside the Patan Collector’s Office. The students were given an application form to the Collector demanding 50 per cent fee waiver. There was a hint of agitation if students were not given 50 per cent fee waiver.
