You Will Get Free Lifetime Hospital Expenses
The Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) is a health scheme of the Central Government. The benefit of this scheme is available only to Central Government employees, pensioners and their dependents. Under this scheme, government employees get cashless treatment facility in the hospital. They do not have to pay out-of-pocket bills for hospital bills or expensive medicines. CGHS is available in 72 cities across the country.
To whom will the Central Government Health Scheme be applied?
The Central Government Health Scheme will be applicable to all Central Government employees and their dependent family members. Apart from that, pensioners and dependent families also benefit.
The government gives the benefit of CGHS card to current and former members of Parliament, former governors and lieutenant governors, Supreme Court-High Court judges, former judges and freedom fighters. Accredited journalists, Delhi Police workers, Railway Board employees, Post Office employees, Telegraph employees are also covered under the Central Government Health Scheme.
The scheme will cover 10 cities
CGHS services will soon be available in 100 cities across India. The scheme is currently running in 72 cities through 329 Allopathic Health Centers and 86 AYUSH Centers. The service benefits 12.09 lakh primary cardholders and 35.22 lakh other beneficiaries. Out of which 17 lakh beneficiaries are from Delhi / NCR.
Beneficiary 75 years and above
More than 2.5 lakh beneficiaries of CGHS services are aged 75 years and above. About 58% of CGHS beneficiaries must avail CGHS facilities at least once a year.
