Vehicle related documents will be maintained through the web portal

The ministry said it has researched the Central Motor Vehicle Rules. Under this, necessary vehicle related documents like licenses, registration documents, fitness certificates, permits etc. will be maintained through a government run web portal. The electronic portal can also be used for compounding, endorsement, suspension and revocation of licenses, registration and issuance of e-invoices.

This rule will be applicable from October 1

These rules will be enforced from October 1 under the Motor Vehicle Act. Just last year, the central government implemented several amendments to the law. These range from traffic rules to road safety. Large fines were provided for violating these rules. At the same time, technology was upgraded to reduce corruption.

A statement from the ministry said, “The use of IT services and electronic monitoring will help in complying with traffic rules in the country.” This will reduce the number of cases of harassment or harassment of drivers. ‘

According to the rules, if a vehicle-related document has been verified electronically, the police officer cannot ask for a physical copy. It will also include cases where the driver has committed multiple violations. In which a document may be confiscated.

Such seizures will be made electronically on the portal. The description of this document will then be recorded sequentially. Such records will be displayed on the portal at regular intervals.

It was also said that after requesting or examining any document, the date and time stamp of the investigation and the record of the identity card of the police officer in uniform will also be maintained on the portal. Descriptions of officials authorized by these states will also be included. This will reduce the burden of checking or heating vehicles without cause and will not cause any inconvenience to the drivers.
