13 thousand will be recruited in gram panchayats
After a long time, recruitment exercise has been started in the Panchayat Department of Gujarat State. There are about 1500 vacancies in the district and taluka panchayat structure out of which administrative process is underway to fill 15000 vacancies.
15 classes including Junior Clerk, Talati, Accountant will be filled
The government is moving ahead to announce the recruitment and solicit online applications before the code of conduct for the state’s 10,000 gram panchayat elections comes into force in November.
This power has now been handed over to the Panchayat Selection Board after the state government took over the power of recruitment of class-4 from 6 district panchayats of the state. The new state government has given priority to recruitment in the panchayat department and has also included it in the 100-day action plan after widespread complaints that work in the panchayat departments was deteriorating due to lack of staff.

Sources in the panchayat department said that a proposal for recruitment of 15,000 employees of 15 cadres has been sent to the finance department after the government’s green light. Vacancies including Junior Clerk, Talati, Extension Officer, Accountant will be filled. Class-1 and Class-II are recruited by GPSC. Meanwhile, the recruitment of Patawalas in Class-III in Panchayats has been stopped. Patawalas have not been recruited for years.
